  • ENGINEERING DEVELOPMENT

Our Technical Office has developed its own activity to support company processes. When budgeting for the acquisition of new molding orders which also require the mold construction, our Engineering development carries out a preliminary molding method according to which the commercial manager elaborates the breakdown of costs, both for equipment construction and for molding. Once the order is booked, the Technical Office interfaces with external design studios to establish the final method and mold design, following the project arrangement and its final revision.

On the other side, when we acquire outsourced mold construction orders with projects and materials provided by the Customer, the Design department revises the supplied projects and the three-dimensional seams of process flow CADs, preparing the work for the CAM Office.

We have well-designed computer systems such as the VISI software for CAD planning, the Cimatron package for CAM elaboration and the Geomagic software for Reverse Engineering, while spring-back simulations are carried out through Autoform by the external design studio with which we collaborate.

Another important task of the Engineering development is to plan the changes required by the Client and by our Maintenance on the equipment used by Production department; they also support the activity planning for the robotisation of the new molding orders with relative mold changes, gripper design, rotation stations and any necessary adjustment; also the improvements of company processes are studied and designed by the Technical office.

Our prestigious customers are getting more and more involved in extraordinary maintenance – life-extension of the molds produced in their plants but, unfortunately, in most cases the mold parts data are not updated. So, once the Quality unit has scanned the parts to be reconstructed, the Technical office carries out the complex Reverse Engineering process, reconstructing the mathematical model of those parts.

Given the strategic importance of the Engineering development, S.P.L. Industries aims to increase the number of this unit's staff in order to further improve its own technical potential.
